All Bernards Township dogs and cats must be licensed, as per NJ Statute Annotated 4:19-15.2a and Bernards Township Ordinance 5-2.1 and BH:10-5.2.  Any current annual dog and cat license expires on January 31 of each year.  The licensing of animals is an important aspect of rabies and animal control.

If your dog's or cat's rabies vaccination expires before the end of the new license year, you will need to have the animal revaccinated prior to getting a new license.

Bernards Township offers two free rabies clinics per year. Clinics are held at the Bernards Township Public Works Garage 277 South Maple Ave Basking Ridge from 10:00 am to Noon.

Rabies Clinics are held on the second Saturday in November and January.
