Health Promotion and Education

What is Health Education?
Health education is the process of providing individuals and communities with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their health. Health education focuses on promoting healthy behaviors, preventing disease, and improving overall well-being through programs, resources, and outreach in the community.

What is a Health Educator?
A health educator is a trained professional who creates, implements, and evaluates programs to help people live healthier lives. They work within the community to share reliable information and connect residents to resources.

What do we do?
The Bernards Township Health Department offers programs and clinics that promote disease prevention while supporting nutrition, mental health, and substance use awareness. We work to address both communicable and chronic diseases, including early detection and treatment of conditions such as obesity, heart disease, hypertension, cancer, and diabetes. We collaborate with community partners to bring specialized programs to residents. These programs are designed to be convenient, accessible, and responsive to the needs of our residents.
